I had prided myself upon my Pharisaical strictness; but after the revelation of Christ to me in life’s journey (Paul’s experience on the road to Damascus), the mission of the Saviour, and his own work in the conversion of the people, were plain to my mind; and I fully comprehended the difference between a living faith and a dead formalism. I still claimed to be one of the children of Abraham (spiritual), and kept the Ten Commandments in letter and in spirit as faithfully as I had ever done before this conversion.

There are those who think that they can improve upon the plan that God has made, that they can mark out for themselves a course better than the course He has marked out for them. Such ones, choosing the things that be of men, harden their hearts against God's leading, and follow their own way. Unless they repent, the time will come when they will look upon the utter failure of their life work. Man's wisdom, exercised without Christ's guidance, is a dangerous element.

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that i write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 1 Thessalonians 5 : 1 - 4
